Presidente de la Nación Argentina

Javier Milei

Viva la libertad.

Libertarian economist. In office since 10 December 2023. A program to take the Argentine state out of the way of the Argentine people.

The program

211% → 34%

Annual inflation

Ideas

Liberty is not a mood. It is a budget.

Four commitments. The rest is commentary. Argentina does not need another five-year plan. It needs the state to stop eating the future.

  1. 01

    No deficit

    Fiscal order

Spend what the Republic collects. Argentina posted financial surpluses in 2024 and 2025 — the first consecutive pair after more than a decade of red ink.

  2. 02

    Stop the press

    Sound money

Inflation is a tax on the poor. Annual CPI fell from 211.4% at the end of 2023 to 33.8% in July 2026. The work is unfinished. The direction is not.

  3. 03

    Cut the chainsaw

    A smaller state

Ministries merged, subsidies unwound, tens of thousands of political appointments reversed. A government that does less, so a country can do more.

  4. 04

    Friends of liberty

    The West

Closer to the United States and Israel. Out of the BRICS orbit. Argentina as a liberal republic, not a client of whoever prints the next swap line.

Minimum Viable Scale

The working paper that puts the program in equations: extinction thresholds, increasing returns, and why a wedge can condemn an economy.

Record

Three years of taking the chainsaw to the deficit.

  1. 2023

    The inheritance

Sworn in on 10 December. Annual inflation at 211.4%. A fiscal deficit, empty reserves, and a political class that had run the same playbook for seventy years.

  2. 2024

    The adjustment

Spending cut, ministries halved, the first budget surplus in fourteen years. Monthly inflation began a long descent from 12.8% in November 2023.

  3. 2025

    The mandate

GDP grew 4.4%. Currency controls eased. Midterm elections enlarged La Libertad Avanza’s bench in Congress. Labour and tax reforms followed.

  4. 2026

    The work

Third year in office. Monthly inflation near 2%. Growth back. Davos heard the same sentence Buenos Aires did: liberty is not a slogan. It is a program.

About

An economist who refused to stay on television.

Javier Gerardo Milei was born on 22 October 1970 in Palermo, Buenos Aires. Before the presidency he was a university economist and a combative television pundit — the man who called the political caste what a generation of voters already felt.

He describes himself as a libertarian and an anarcho-capitalist: minarchism as the reachable station, laissez-faire as the track. In 2023 he won the presidency on the ticket of La Libertad Avanza. Vice President Victoria Villarruel. The General Secretariat of the Presidency is held by his sister, Karina Milei.

The sentence he will not retire: ¡Viva la libertad, carajo!
